Paseo del Prado is the first urban alley in Europe. The place, which the townspeople used for recreation since the 15th century, was equipped and decorated with trees and fountains by decree of King Philip II. During the Renaissance, namely during the reign of Charles III, an urban space was formed here, which subsequently served as a model for many cities in Spain and Latin America.
In the 1st-3rd centuries A.D. e. here was the largest open mine of the Roman Empire. Over 250 years of operation, more than 1,500 tons of gold have been mined on it. And now, during sunset, in the rays of the setting sun, you can see how the fabulous sandy silhouettes radiate a golden sheen.
