Historical districts of Istanbul
The historical districts of Istanbul have been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1985. The Istanbul Historic Areas facility is divided into four zones. The most popular of these is the Sultanahmet area, which consists of the Hippodrome of Constantinople, the Hagia Sophia Mosque, the Hagia Irene, the Little Hagia Sophia Mosque and the Topkapı Palace.
